SN provided skilled teaching and emotional support related to the patient’s upcoming follow-up with her OBGYN and preparation for a vaginal biopsy. Education was focused on ensuring understanding of the diagnostic process and recognizing potential complications post-procedure.

Patient was instructed on the importance of attending her scheduled OBGYN appointment to review MRI results and discuss next steps in care. SN emphasized that timely follow-up is essential to guide treatment planning and reduce delays in diagnosis or management.

SN provided education about the vaginal biopsy procedure, including what to expect before, during, and after the test. Pre-procedure teaching included instructions to follow any specific provider recommendations (e.g., activity restrictions, avoidance of sexual activity or douching prior to the test, if applicable). SN explained that the procedure may cause mild discomfort or spotting, which is normal, and reviewed aftercare instructions, including hygiene, use of sanitary pads, and rest as needed.

Patient was advised to monitor closely for any signs of complications, including excessive vaginal bleeding, worsening pelvic or abdominal pain, foul-smelling discharge, chills, or fever. Instructions were provided to contact the healthcare provider promptly if any of these symptoms develop.

In addition, SN introduced basic relaxation and breathing exercises to help manage anxiety related to the procedure and the pending test results. Patient was guided through simple deep breathing and grounding techniques and was encouraged to use them before and after the appointment.

SN encouraged the patient to advocate for herself during appointments by asking questions and seeking clarification about the procedure, results, and follow-up care. Patient was reminded that understanding her care plan helps reduce stress and supports informed decision-making.

Teach-back method was used to ensure understanding. Patient was asked to describe the purpose of the upcoming OBGYN visit, state at least two things she should expect during or after the vaginal biopsy, list two warning signs to report, and explain how she can manage anxiety before the appointment.

Patient verbalized that she will follow up with her OBGYN to go over MRI results, expects some mild spotting after the biopsy, and will contact her provider if she experiences heavy bleeding or pain. Patient was able to demonstrate deep breathing technique and stated she feels more prepared. Understanding assessed as adequate with minimal prompting.
