During the visit, the skilled nurse prepared and administered Mounjaro injection per physician order. Hand hygiene was performed prior to medication preparation. The medication pen was verified for correct patient, medication, dose, route, and expiration date in accordance with the “five rights” of medication administration.
The injection site was selected at the abdomen. The skin was cleansed with an alcohol swab and allowed to dry. The cap was removed, and the pen was placed firmly against the skin. The injection button was depressed to deliver the medication, and the pen was held in place until the second click was heard, indicating full dose administration.
The injection site was assessed post-administration with no bleeding or adverse reaction noted. Gentle pressure was applied as needed. The used pen was disposed of safely in an approved sharps container. The patient tolerated the procedure without complication.
